Painting Notes

After a lifetime of drawing, two decades of design and ten years of photography, I finally picked up a paint brush for the first time in 2003. The following spring I took a painting class and it all started to come together. My understanding of the mechanics and process of art-making met up with my abundance of photo images to create a very productive situation. I tried to keep at least one painting class each semester as I made my way through school. At one point I realized that if I completed five art classes by the end of the year I could add Art Practice as a double major. That experience made it clear that painting was something I could do well. In making a painting, I felt a sense of command over the entire process which I hadn't experienced with any other pursuit. I hope you find something in these galleries that you'd like to have on your own wall. If not, there are a number of ways to commission an affordable painting.
